ERDEMOVIC
Croat Drazen Erdemovic enters the trial chamber at the United Nations criminal tribunal for former Yugoslavia in The Hague Friday, Nov. 29, 1996. Erdemovic, who had pleaded guilty to crimes against humanity in the July 1995 massacre of 1,200 Muslims organized by the Bosnian Serb army at a farm in Pilica north of Srebrenica, was sentenced to 10 years jail. Erdemovic was the first person sentenced by the U.N. court since it was established in 1993 and it was the first international war crimes sentence since the post-World War II tribunals in Nuremberg and Tokyo.
