I'm missing something here:

It is not the role of our government to provide us with health insurance, jobs, etc. The role of the government is to secure our ‘Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.’ No more-no less.

But unless I'm mistaken to 'secure our life' means in the event of that life being in danger, ie illness/accident/whaterver needing medical treatment then its the role of government to help, but I agree not actually pay for that help, even in the UK we pay taxes for that.

Can't remember who said it but someone said 'You're never to old to learn' true.

Yeah Obama!

As recently as last December, I could not get health insurance at all because of pre-existing conditions. No one would even provide me with a quote. Just a summry no.

When some of the ACA conditions kicked in earlier this year, all of a sudden insurance companies are calling and emailing wanting to provide me with insurance. Not only that, but I got acceptable insurance at a very reasonable price, and best of all, THERE'S NO LIFETIME CAP! Previously, the lifetime cap was $1 million.

Personally I think it's a travesty that the world's great country, and its capitalistic economy, cannot find a way to provide universal health care. Seems like health care should be part of that "life" in "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

Eh, it happens. Maybe it was fate--to ensure that your point got across.... Either way, thanks for the input. I just can't help but imagine a doctor's waiting room, now with the efficacy (or lack thereof) of the DMV....

I didn't mean to double comment. The first one I thought was lost -I couldn't find it and couldn't remember what I had said. Hence, the 2nd one... Sorry about that.

With all due respect, it is very simple. It is not the role of the government to provide us with health insurance, jobs, etc. The role of the government is to secure our 'Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.' No more-no less. But, our government has made it so complicated that we have limited rights to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. This makes for a very malcontented society here in the U.S.
