Speaking of the worst genocide ever in the Americas; how about our present day genocide of the unborn? Over 56 MILLION KILLED SINCE ROE VS WADE. (BY SALINE INJECTIONS AND THEN VACUUMED OUT – RIPPING THE BABY TO PIECES) AND THIS IS STILL DONE IN THE NAME OF ‘WOMANS CHOICE’ SO WE GIVE A CHOICE TO KILL INNOCENT UNBORN PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE STILL INSIDE THE WOMB??? YET – AS SOON AS THEY COME OUT – THE EXACT SAME ACTIONS WOULD BE MURDER & CHILD ABUSE ? AND, AGAIN, IF THAT SAME WOMAN WITH AN UNBORN CHILD GOT IN A CAR WRECK & THE FETUS DIED – IT WOULD BE CLASSIFIED A DEATH? AND IF THAT SAME WOMAN WAS ASSAULTED BY SOMEONE AND CAUSED THE FETUS TO DIE, THAT ASSAULTER WOULD BE CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE / MURDER?? DOES ANYONE ELSE GET THIS TWISTED PLAY ON WORDS (WOMAN’S CHOICE) THAT ALLOWS THESE HEINIOUS ACTS TO CONTINUE?

I’m not sure if my previous comment was posted. Your post illuminates a tragic time in our history. When Old World diseases didn’t kill off the locals in tne New World, the Old World used its superior weapons and power to finish the job. For those who believe that might makes right, they might want to reconsider that thought … those who do not remember history are condemned to repeat it.

Great post, it is a disgusting part of history, and only worsen by the ongoing celebrations of the "discovery" of America (as if it had not been discovered a long long time ago by its indigenous people). I will have to disagree with the comment by DrewcomD. The indigenous people may have been all the pricks you want, but it is hard to imply they belong in the same bag as the conquerors, given the sheer number of people murdered, raped and tortured (not to mention the lands and the precious objects stolen). Many scholars consider it to be the worst genocide ever (you can read more on "American Holocaust:The Conquest of the New World", Oxford University Press).

I keep returning to the idea THAT EVERYONE WAS A PRICK- Euros and indigenous.
